babysitting and bearworld

Jor and I got our babysitting on a few weekends ago.
We went up to Idaho to visit Jory's sister and husband and new babe! His name is Henry and he's totally adorable. We are NEVER around newborns unsupervised so it was a pretty big deal for us. We babysat. By our SELVES for a afternoon. It was fun.

And after 4 hours we were so tired we honestly didn't speak because it took too much energy. So we just drove to Rexburg, (got a snoasis- I did have enough energy for that) and we found a park. We joined the 3,000 other couples in that town and snuggled up on a blanket and passed out for the next hour and half. I thought it was pretty funny, sleeping in a park and all.

I thought it was funny how tired we were after just an afternoon of watching Henry. I guess us future parents have got to really start, preparing. Or something. Or maybe just get all the sleep we can get because we won't be getting much of that. We're pretty good at doing that already though, sleeping.

Mr. Henry

I love this picture! Finally after DAYS literally of trying to get a good picture of him, we slid this cutie in a basket and he finally fell asleep... and stayed asleep!

Did you know that there is a Bear World in Rexburg?

We didn't, really. And after we saw the signs, we of course had to go. We were like giddy little school... children. It really was pretty funny and we had a lot of fun.

Okay, picture overload. I was so bugged that we couldn't roll our windows down. Those bears were totally harmless. We may have got a talkin' to because he tried to break the rules. I still think I got some good pictures, regardless.

So, moral of this trip. I love babies even when they cry a lot. We still want to be parents, so that's good. I love doing anything with Jory. I really like the fields in Idaho. And bears and buffalo are really neat animals even if they shed and look kind of ugly at times.

schools out for the summer!

When cleaning out Jory's classroom (because IT'S SUMMER, yahooooo!) he showed me this hilarious newspaper assignment one of his kids did about Mr. Schmidt.

READ.
(Mr. Schmidt's next job)

The best part...

"I know a few kids who don't honestly care but... it's a major achievement!"
Funniest thing, ever. Kids are so funny. I get to hear the best stories every day, I love it!

So, yes! Jory will be the new "TSA" at Sage Hills Elementary. The same school he's been teaching at. He doesn't get paid quite the salary of a assistant principal, but will be doing only administrative duties which is awesome, and totally what we need to build his resume. We feel so blessed.

Now, HONEY-DO'S for Jory 'cause Sarah still works full time.
It's like I have a stay at home husband! I absolutely love it.

Yay for summer time!

Now, if it wasn't so dang hard to get up in the mornings. All I want to do is sleep in with my man...

debbie hostess robot lady

These pictures were taken in Cancun on our honeymoon, when we were there almost 4 years ago.

This funny story has to do with what happened here 4 years ago....

And then what happened one week ago at work.

Right before this picture was taken, Jory and I were walking. And walking and walking and WALKING in the extreme mexican heat wondering if we were ever going to make it to our destination. Which, in all honesty was a lame destination, what we were hoping for were chitzen itza sized mayan ruins, and all we got were... well not so big ones. But we did see the most massive iguana I've ever seen, so I guess that was worth remembering... But that's not where this story is going.

So as we were walking, looking like two hopeless and thirsty lovers we ran into 2 men. We asked them if we were close to the "famous" ruins and they reassured us it was just around the corner, then followed up with question that I think most people on this vacation start conversations with, "you guys honeymooners"?

So we had a small talk- asked where we were from... etc.
HE WAS FROM OREM, UTAH.
What are the odds? He lived in Australia, with his BF, and was cruising Mexico, Cozumel (where we were) was a port. Well, we talked about good ole Orem and laughed about the coincidence... He had to get going so he finished up by telling me to go and visit his Mom, and tell her that we met Baron, her son. She works at Smiths in Orem (right by my parents home).

He told us a way to remember his Mom's name, so we could look for her when we went next. (I'm not going to tell you her name- but) he rymed it with little debbie hostess and robots (seriously, we were never going to forget it).

So for the next few YEARS every single time we went to Smiths, I'd keep my eyes peeled for Debbie Hostess Robot lady.

No luck.

Until.

Two weeks ago.

I was working in the hand center, and checking in patients. A lady walked up, stated her name. And my heart stopped a little. Thinking, to my self, over and over- how do you know her Sarah??

IT WAS DEBBIE HOSTESS ROBOT LADY!

So looking probably as awkward as ever, I repeated her name back to her. Studdered a bit... then nervously just blurted. "I've been looking for you for 4 years!"

then went on to more blurting... "doyouhaveasonthatwenttoMexico4yearsagoandlivesinAustralia??!!"

She did.

We laughed. and I kind of freaked out a little. It was the best thing that happened to me all week.

I immediately called Jory and told him that I MET DEBBIE HOSTESS ROBOT LADY.

I should have taken a picture.  It's small  world.

you've got to get ready to expect good pictures of yourself

This is what I have come to realize after again, another sad representation of how I think I look on these fun last minute get aways.

But that's okay.

Scofield! We ate really big strawberries. Burned holes in expensive shorts. Made smores and played games that made us reenact laughing hyenas (not one of my finest moments, but then again, maybe it was?). We snoozed and played monopoly- sometimes at the same time. Four wheeled with a child's byu football  helmet. Stepped into sinking mud holes. Got in arguments over wheat and ore. Ate life and fished in hail. didn't catch one crawdad and found the end of the rainbow!

All in 24 hours.

We LOVE Scofield weekends, and can't wait for next weekend to visit Jory's sister and brother in law and their new babe! Henry Owen.

Saucy!

Jor's home a lot now, and I love it.

You know what's the best part? I don't feel guilty asking him to do things, now that I know he isn't stressed out to the max with homework and school.

So, I ask him do things, and he does them like the perfect husband should. Ha...

He's actually super helpful and I feel totally blessed to have a husband with that quality. Anyway. I had a photo shoot last night and didn't have time to make dinner before I left, I mentioned to him that we had some stuff to maybe make a bbq chicken pizza, there was some chicken in the fridge and we had some cheese- you figure out the bread... and that was about all I said.

GUESS WHAT I CAME HOME TO?!

BBQ chicken heaven pizza made from scratch. Have you ever MADE a pizza that looked like this?

I haven't.

He was so giddy and proud of his accomplishment, he even used phrases like "and I let the yeast do it's thing..." and "I folded the dough, you know? Like I folded it!" and "I even threw it in the air. Like a chef! I could really see myself doing this more."

I could really see himself doing this more, too. Like every night would be awesome.

28 Candles

Birthdays are a big deal in my little life. You can ask Jory about how I feel regarding Birthdays. HUGE deal. Why wouldn't it be? Your day! Your only day in the whole entire year that's all about you!

Jory will never live down the year (cough, cough, last year March 6- yours truly's birthday- he most definitely failed and has been making up for it ever since. That day he even let me pick his face all I wanted, just because he felt so bad. But that's for another day.)

This Saturday was Jory's birthday, his only request was to go mountain biking. LIGHTBULB. I would make a totally killer picnic.

I had adorable ideas of  home made sparkling strawberry and vanilla bean sodas, served in small mason jars - maybe with a twine bow... and marscapone/pesto crossiant sanwhiches next to a plate of  cheese and fruit with crackers. You know. Totally picture perfect. You've seen it on FB and blogs, right? Those people who try to make you think that there's nothing more their man wants than fancy cheeses and interesting fruit.

Well. I've decided those men aren't real men.

It was Jory's birthday, I thought I should maybe ask him what he wants to eat on our romantic picnic.

His answer? Doritos for side... and instead of my chocolate dipped strawberries idea... he wanted oreos and twizzlers.

Awesome.

I still had some ideas up my sleeve- even with the manufactured crap he suggested to eat. Not saying I don't enjoy manufactured crap, I do love an occasional gummy bear. Maybe a daily few handfuls, of gummy bears.

This was a happy picture.

Two hours later.

This girl had just violently thrown her bike to the ground and shortly after collapsed with her helmet and all, waiting for her birthday prince charming to save her.  Next time we plan to complete this Alpine trail with out laying down in the dirt for 20 minutes in the middle of the climb.

Master Schmidt

 I have my man back!

You don't realize how wonderful something is until it get's taken away from you, or until you get it back. And my friends... I have it back! I have Jory back for weekends, week nights, and mentally- he's here. And I welcome this with open wide freaking arms. Jorbor graduated with his Masters in Educational Leadership this week, from ... BYU if you can believe it. (When I met Jory he had some ... interesting views of BYU and we like to laugh that the zoobs stole him).

The first day he had no class, we had no idea what to do with ourselves. We danced around the house, then squealed like little girls when we realized we had time to go and get ocean waters from Sonic.

It's been funny too, after his graduation I realized the man I married the relaxed, care free - stress free man was slowly emerging again, a little bit of that side of him has been lacking for the past 2 years, and just recently noticed it. He's been so busy, but maintained only one stress melt down in two years- in comparison to my once-a-week stress melties- I'd say that's pretty good.

I feel like I am the second, proud Mother in his life.

Happy day!
